The challenge? 

We were approached by Trafford Council to help devise a future-proof EV charging strategy that would evolve to support the needs of the entire community. The challenge was to think beyond just a few sites and build a sustainable network that was right for the borough.

The Be.EV solution

Starting out, we had to get to grips with the wider Greater Manchester Transport and Clean Air Plan, ensure local residents were consulted, listened to and kept in the loop, and understand Trafford Council's specific strategic objectives, preferences and parameters. This included avoiding on-street charging due to the impact on traffic management and safety.

Taking a joint approach, we committed to delivering charging points where they were needed most, rather than simply targeting the borough's affluent areas - fulfilling the Council's ambition of ensuring that no resident is ever more than ten minutes' walk from a public charger.

We proposed a mix of more than 100 Fast, Rapid and Ultra-rapid chargers to suit all dwell types and meet the needs of different user groups in the area, with a strong focus on future-proofing.
