Be.EV acquires Mer UK's Public Charging Network

Say hello to 450 new places to power-up!

We’ve officially acquired Mer UK’s entire public charging network, which means we’ve grown (a lot).

Over the coming months you'll begin to see blue chargers turning to green as we bring the Be.EV experience (including our 39p/kWh subscription) to all of Mer's previous locations.

We know you like options, and this deal means an extra 450+ places (that’s over 1,600 new bays) to plug-in across the nation, including loads more in the South, yes, we heard you 😉

Everything you need to know

  • Be.EV’s priority will always be to deliver a seamless and easy way for people to charge. Mer’s charge points will continue to operate as normal while we begin integration. Over time, customers will benefit from being part of a larger national network with Be.EV’s customer focus and market leading 39p/kWh subscription and the UK’s longest off-peak window (7pm–7am) which is designed to keep public charging affordable and predictable.

  • There’s no immediate change to pricing as a result of today’s announcement. Over the coming months, as the network is fully integrated, all chargers added will benefit from our market leading 39p/kWh subscription and the UK’s longest off-peak charging window (7pm–7am).

  • Yes, all existing roaming partners that drivers previously used on the Mer network will continue to work on the Be.EV network.

  • Yes, over the transition period the Mer app will continue to function as normal enabling drivers to find and pay for a session, drivers will be invited to join the Be.EV app during this time to benefit from our 39p/kWh off peak tariff and subscription products.

  • Our intent is to keep sites open and improve performance of Mer’s existing charging network. In a small number of cases, some hardware may need upgrading or reconfiguration, but the goal is more reliable and faster charging in more places, not less.

  • Yes. This acquisition expands footprint now and Be.EV is committed to deploying new capacity where it’s needed, particularly in areas that are underserved or where utilisation is growing. We already have a number of new sites that will open in the next few months – watch this space!

  • The transition will happen gradually over a 6-month period to ensure a frictionless transition with minimised disruption for all drivers.

  • To comply with GDPR requirements around customer consent and data transfer, Mer customers will be invited to create a new Be.EV account as part of full integration. We’ll provide clear instructions and support to make this straightforward.
