Leading EV charging network, Be.EV, has introduced the UK’s first EV charging pass, which enables drivers to pay a fixed monthly fee for a charging allowance that can be used across the nationwide network, without needing to track peak, off-peak or per-kWh rates.
The update brings Be.EV into line with subscription and allowance-based pricing already well established in Europe’s most mature EV market. In Denmark, for example, subscription-based charging is now common practice among major networks, as adoption matures and drivers look for simpler, more predictable ways to pay. Be.EV expects UK driver demand to follow the same trajectory as the market grows.
Asif Ghafoor, CEO of Be.EV, says:
“Subscription and allowance-based charging is becoming the norm in Europe's most mature EV markets, and it's the direction the UK is heading in too. As adoption grows, drivers want the same simplicity they get from a mobile phone contract: one fee, a set amount of charging, no surprises. That's what Charging Passes give them.”
There are two passes available at launch: Go Pass, at £49 a month for a 120kWh allowance – enough for around 400 miles – and Go Further Pass, at £89 a month for 250kWh, which accumulates to around 800 miles. Drivers who use their full allowance roll onto Be.EV's Off-Peak rate of 49p/kWh for the rest of the billing period, which is still well below the standard pay-as-you-go rate. That makes the Go Pass 51% cheaper and the Go Further Pass 57% cheaper than the UK average public ultra-rapid charging price of 83p/kWh for drivers who use their full allowance.
The passes sit alongside a simplified line-up of fixed-rate subscriptions. The Mega, Be.EV's most popular subscription since launch, will continue to unlock 39p/kWh at any time of day, now renamed the Flexi Pass and priced at £13.99 a month, up from £9.99. Even at the new price, Flexi Pass subscribers save 25% against the UK average PAYG price after their second charge.

Elsewhere, the update introduces a single standard price across daytime PAYG and Member charging, a new Member Off-Peak rate of 49p/kWh between 7pm and 7am - still the longest off-peak window of any public network in the UK. Members will also earn Clubcard points on every charging session, day or night, for the first time.
