Our charging Tariff has changed – Frequently Asked Questions

What’s happening?

On Monday 23 May 2022, a new tariff to use the Be.EV network was introduced due to a change in energy prices. The tariff was agreed with Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and replaces the previous tariff introduced on the 1 October 2021.

What will the tariff be?

This new Tariff reflects the increase in electricity costs that many businesses are facing. All Be.EV members will enjoy a discount - the rates are:

Rapid:

  • £0.59/kWh Pay As You Go (PAYG)
  • £0.56/kWh Be.EV Member Rate

Fast:

  • £0.49/kWh Pay As You Go (PAYG)
  • £0.46/kWh Be.EV Member Rate

All rates are inclusive of VAT at 20% following the HMRC ruling in May 2021.

When was it introduced?

The new tariff came into effect on Monday 23 May 2022.

Why did you change the tariff?

The increase of the tariff is due to rising energy costs, which are impacting on our ability to run the network without a large public subsidy.

I’m already a member – what do I need to do?

Nothing, the tariff will automatically update and you will be charged via Direct Debit at the end of each billing period.

I’m not a member – what do I need to do?

How long will the new tariff be valid for? Will it be reviewed/increased again?

Our energy contract runs to Thursday 7 July so the tariff will be reviewed again in July 2022 in collaboration with TfGM. We want to keep the tariff fair and affordable to ensure it encourages usage and uptake of electric vehicles.

How does the new tariff compare to other providers?

We have analysed all competitors in the market and ensured that our rate is fair and affordable. Although slightly higher than most, we offer convenient and reliable charging opportunities across the GM area. We also offer members a discounted rate so if you’re not already a member please sign up here.
